Wreath Retrieval Day

We will meet at the Admin Bldg at 9:30 a.m. to go over safety precautions and directions on what to do.
Bring long poles and gloves. Dress for the weather. All are invited to help us pick up the wreaths.

EVENT DETAILS

We invite you to join us on Wreaths Across America Day at Jacksonville National Cemetery. All are welcome to come experience this wonderful tribute to our fallen servicemembers. Enjoy this beautiful setting, meet people dedicated to honoring our military and take part in our mission to Remember the Fallen, Honor those who Serve, and Teach our children the value of freedom.   We’d love to have you join us!

Here is what you can expect:

  • Witness the moving arrival our our Escort and delivery of our Veteran’s wreaths.
  • Unload and unpack hundreds of boxes of wreaths.
  • Arrange our wreaths in straight lines in preparation for placement later in the day.
  • Spruce up our wreaths and red bows after being unpacked from their journey from Maine.
  • Visit the Teach Tent at the Welcome Center to learn about Wreaths Across America, military service and the National Cemetery
  • Walk around the Memorial Walk which begins near the Welcome Center and includes many monuments along the way.
  • Attend our moving Ceremony at the Assembly Area which celebrates and highlights our mission.
  • Finally, after the conclusion of our Ceremony we all proceed to place a wreath at every veteran’s gravesite.

If you plan to bring a group of volunteers larger than 20 people, please register your group here.

All event parking is at a remote parking location. Thanks to Anheuser-Busch for allowing us to use their facility for parking. The address of the parking location is near the intersection of Lem Turner and Lannie Roads. The address is 16163 Lem Turner Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218. Continuous shuttle transportation is provided by JTA & Durham School services beginning at 6:45am.

A handicap placard is required for any vehicle entering Jacksonville National Cemetery on Wreaths Across America Day. Please utilize the remote parking location and continuous shuttle service.

No pets allowed other than official working service animals.

Key team members arrive

9:30 am

Arrival of motorcycle escort and semitrucks carrying wreaths

9:45 am

Unloading and staging of wreaths by volunteers

10:30 am

Limited wreath placement - Family members are invited to place a wreath at their loved one's gravesite.  Please honor this special time for families.  All remaining wreaths will be placed following our ceremony at approximately 1pm.    

11:30 am

Wreaths Across America Ceremony begins at the Assembly Area

1:00 pm

Public is invited to place wreaths in all parts of the cemetery

Please dress for the weather!

If it has been raining prior to our event the ground will be wet and in some places muddy.
Wear the appropriate footwear. The weather can change!!!
It may be cold in the morning but by the afternoon it can be hot out there.
Please dress in layers.
